Accessibility: How Ally Supports Accessible Course Design
Ally is a digital accessibility tool that scans your Canvas course and provides recommended steps needed to improve the accessibility of content where it does not comply with accessibility guidelines. It provides students with alternative formats of the original document so they can select the one that best fits their unique learning needs.
This workshop will provide an overview of the Ally accessibility platform from both the instructor and student experience:
- Ally Course Accessibility Report; course score; strategies to fix content
- Most common issues with documents flagged by Ally and how to resolve them
- Alternative Formats and how they can benefit students
- Campus Resources and where to go for additional assistance

Assignments and the Gradebook in Canvas
Join us for targeted webinar focused on the assignment and grading process in Canvas. This session will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the workflow of creating online assignments, managing student submissions, grading, and providing feedback in Canvas.
- Weight grades by assignment groups (e.g., Quizzes 20%, Exams 30%) and learn how to drop the lowest scores.
- Assign tasks to specific students, sections, or groups for targeted instruction.
- Utilize Rubrics for structured feedback, annotate directly on submissions in SpeedGrader, and add comments for clarity.
- Adjust grading policies, including default settings for all assessments, individual assignment adjustments, and implementing automatic late policies.

Build Your Course in Canvas [QM]
In this 60-minute webinar, we will explore best practices for designing student-centered online courses that are engaging, accessible, and well-organized. Using a framework based on the principles of Quality Matters, we’ll guide you through essential strategies to help you structure your course with students' needs in mind. Whether you are designing a new course or revising an existing one, you’ll walk away with practical action steps that can immediately improve your course design. We will not cover assignments or the gradebook in this workshop.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

- Create Pages and Modules to present content to your students.

Canvas Crash Course
New to Canvas or prepping for Spring? In less than an hour, learn some of the basics: uploading Files, organizing in Modules, creating Assignments (gradebook columns), and communicating with students (Announcements vs Inbox messages). We will wrap up with some helpful tips to save you time throughout the semester.

- Add an automatic Late Policy to your gradebook and excuse a student from the deduction penalty.

Panopto is the easiest way to record and share videos. Upload and host your videos in your Canvas course. Search inside videos for any word spoken or displayed on screen (PowerPoint/Keynote slides!). Panopto provides greater flexibility for recording videos, more advanced video editing tools, and simpler workflows for finding and sharing videos securely online. Additionally, Panopto delivers elevated viewing experiences that engage audiences and enable more flexible collaboration.
When live two-way conversation isn’t necessary, you can use Panopto for Asynchronous learning and teaching (pre-recording lectures; creating flipped class videos; creating microlearning videos; student video projects, presentations, and performances; providing assessments and feedback; and recording on-demand employee training videos) and Sharing knowledge and information (sharing video tutorials, demonstrations and how-tos; creating video documentation and SOPs; capturing and searching SME knowledge; recording and sharing video presentations; creating on-demand CSU communications videos; recording employee onboarding videos).

Honorlock is not a free tool. Colleges, Schools or Units that elect to use Honorlock will be included in a centrally administered contract, and billed back by the Office of Academic Technology for their seat counts.
Honorlock is a remote proctoring service that creates a fair testing environment for all students by protecting exams and academic integrity. Honorlock's proctoring software is primarily browser-based and most students will not have to download any software to access it. Students will need to use the Google Chrome browser and once they install the Honorlock Chrome extension, they can simply log into Canvas like they normally do and get started.
