Hedwig the Owl Camera and Panopto Remote
This is testing of the Owl Labs Meeting Owl Pro 360 degree video conferencing camera Links to an external site.. Since our Panopto Remote Mac mini's were headed to Surplus before they were repurposed to run Panopto Remote, we decided to buy a $999 camera to see how it might work with Panopto Remote. This video shows the our Owl Hedwig in our largest classroom, here we use Hedwigs' microphone and camera to track the presenter in the room. This is a single Mac mini taking an HDMI signal from the presenter laptop, the USB input from Hedwig, and is joined by an iPhone input from the presenter. The desktop screen of the Mac mini Primary capture box running Win10 and Task Manager are also included to monitor load on the machine.
Here, we relieve Hedwig of his duties to capture audio, and move to a Sennheiser wireless lapel microphone and receiver, feeding a SoundBlaster external USB sound card attached to the Mac mini. This is a single Mac mini capturing this presentation, and the desktop of the Mac mini. The shaky video is my iPhone recording me, uh, recording. I let Panopto do the audio normalization here, more audio refinement to be done.
