What is Canvas?
Canvas is the centrally supported learning management system (LMS) at UT Austin. A learning management system creates an online presence for each course section in a given academic semester.

How can I access Canvas?
To log in to Canvas, go to canvas.utexas.edu and click the 'Enter Canvas' button. Enter your UT EID credentials and click 'Log In.' As soon as you register for classes you will automatically be added to your courses in Canvas.
You can give your course a Nickname, move cards around or change the course card color [1]. From the top three dots, you can change the Dashboard view from Card to List View or Recent Activity [2]. If you instructor has added an image, you can remove the color overlay.
Canvas Dashboard
If you do not see a particular course when you log in to Canvas, check under Courses > All Courses.
You can "favorite" published courses to appear on your Dashboard by clicking the star [1]. Unpublished courses will not appear on the Dashboard, but will be listed on the All Courses page [2]. Check here to verify that you are enrolled in the correct section [3]. Some instructors merge their sections and the Course Name on the Dashboard may not reflect your particular section number.

Adds & Drops
Enrollment information from the Registrar is loaded three times a day. Add/Drop updates will appear in Canvas within 8 hours.Top of Page
