Getting Started with UT Instapoll

Join us to learn more about the free classroom response system created here at UT Austin. UT Instapoll leverages a Canvas assignment, allowing instructors to pose multiple choice or text entry questions or polls to their students, thereby pushing performance and/or participation scores to the Canvas gradebook.

Managing Large Multi-Section Courses

Many large courses are comprised of multiple unique number sections and sometimes require coordination between multiple instructors and/or TAs. If this is you and you’re interested in simplifying this process, we encourage you to join us. The goal of this workshop is introduce multiple avenues for managing large courses, from merging the sections together as one to using the Blueprint feature to manage all of them as separate sections. We will highlight each option, discuss advantages and disadvantages, and when to choose one over the other. In addition, we will also discuss ways to communicate with students in both scenarios. This workshop assumes that participants have basic knowledge of Canvas.

Panopto

Creating Content in Panopto

This webinar will introduce Panopto, a cloud-based video platform service that instructors can use to create asynchronous course materials. Learn how to use Panopto Capture to record lectures using your computer's web browser. We will cover how faculty can use the recording feature to create micro-lectures (with PowerPoint or Keynote), add captions, Smart Chapters (table of contents), and quizzes - either as an assignment or as a self-check mechanism.

Zoom

Zoom Basics for Instructors

This webinar will cover accessing the UT Zoom portal, scheduling meetings, Host Meeting controls - including Breakout Rooms and Polling - and where to find resources and support. We will also discuss when to use the Canvas Zoom integration and when to use the Zoom web portal.

 

Zoom and Panopto Integration

This workshop is intended for instructors interested in streamlining the process of moving Zoom recordings into Panopto. Instructors will learn when to use Panopto and/or Zoom, how to schedule and record meetings through Zoom, and how to have meetings automatically uploaded into their course’s Panopto folder. We will also demonstrate how to trim the  recording in Panopto to provide the best recordings to students.

That One Thing... New Analytics

Canvas is making it easier for instructors to view and download how well students are doing in a particular course. Available analytics charts include course grade, weekly online activity, and communication.
