How to Create an Assignment Using the New Turnitin Review
Creating a "Plagiarism Review" assignment
Step 1: Create and/or Configure an Assignment to Run a Turnitin Plagiarism Report
Open the Assignments tab [1] and create an assignment [2] one of two ways. (Or you can click the "Edit" button [3] on an existing assignment.)
Under the control for [1] "Submission Type", make sure to select "Online" from the drop-down menu. The new Framework will accept "Text Entry" and/or "File Upload" submissions [2] and return a Similarity Report. Once you select either "Text Entry" and/or "File Uploads", the Plagiarism Review box will appear. Select "Turnitin" from the drop-down menu [1] to edit the settings. If you would like to store the submissions in the UT Austin repository, select "Institution paper repository" [2] or select "Do not store the submitted papers" if students are submitting drafts. You can exclude small sources [3] by word count or percentage. Check the "Save as default settings" box [4] to use these options each time you create a new Turnitin assignment. By default, students will see their originality reports immediately [5]. Use the drop-down menu to edit the setting.
Continue selecting options for the assignment in Canvas (group assignment, peer review, etc.). Differentiated Assignments? [1]
Finally, click the "Save" button if you are editing a published assignment or the "Save & Publish" button if you creating a new assignment [2].
