Configuring for Online Submissions

Assignments are essential to the Canvas gradebook. You cannot create a column in your Canvas gradebook [Grades] without first creating an Assignment in the Assignments panel.

Also note, that you will create an assignment regardless of whether or not you will accept student work online for that assignment. So even if you are having students turn in work on paper, you will still create an assignment in the Assignments panel.
