The UT Canvas support team, with help from the College of Education's Office of Innovation and the Center for Teaching and Learning, have developed several templates that you may use for developing your Fa20/Sp21 courses. Each of the templates listed below has unique features that are intended to help you consider what format and schedule your course might take, as well as what Canvas tools will help advance your pedagogical aims.

Please feel free to examine the details of the course templates (links in the above menu).  You may also download any of the available templates and import them into your course sites.

Importing files are explained in the following Canvas Guide: How do I import a Canvas course export package? Links to an external site.
      1. Download the template course export file:
      2. Open the Canvas course in which you'd like to upload the course template. We recommend that you load these packages into empty course shells in order to prevent the potential overriding of your current course content. You can Request a Sandbox (course shell) if you do not have an empty course shell.
      3. Select "Settings" from the course navigation menu.
      4. Select "Import Course Content"  from the right-side menu and complete the following:
        • For Content Type, select "Canvas Course Export Package"
        • For Source, select "Choose File" and then locate the home page template file you've just downloaded (typically found in the Downloads folder on your computer) and unzipped
        • Select the file and then "Open"
        • For Content, select "All content," or, "Select specific content" to import only portions of the template (i.e., sample pages, buttons and banners, etc.)
        • Finally, select "Import"
        • A green box with the words "Completed" will appear once the upload is complete.  The content will now be uploaded to your course!
