Group-led presentations/discussions of assigned readings
- Due No Due Date
- Points 10
During one class over the course of the semester, you and three of your classmates will work together to prepare a presentation on that week's assigned readings. Groups and dates of presentations will be determined in the second or third week of class.
These presentations may take any format you like. We encourage you to be creative and go beyond summarizing the main points in the readings; after all, your classmates will have read them, too, and will be ready to participate, not just listen. For your presentation, you might lead your classmates in an in-class activity intended to dive deeper on some of the themes of the reading. You might ask people to write a short response to a prompt and then mix them up 'snowball fight'-style before asking students to read some aloud. If the readings present opposing viewpoints, you might consider doing a moderated panel in which several group members present different perspectives.
These are just ideas to get you thinking - we are open to other formats or approaches. Please describe your plans for your presentation in a single e-mail to both instructors and both TAs (all e-mail addresses on syllabus) at least 48 hours before your presentation date so we can offer feedback on your plans.
