Welcome to the University of Texas at Austin's Peace Corps Prep (PC Prep) program! Links to an external site. PC Prep is designed to make it easier for students whose interests align with the Peace Corps to gain recognition for activities that may make you a viable candidate, such as coursework and extracurricular service. Completion of PC Prep awards students a certificate from the Peace Corps itself, and also gives you a competitive edge in your Peace Corps application, should you choose to pursue this path. Even those who do not apply to Peace Corps, however, can showcase the PC Prep certificate on their resumes or applications for graduate school.

Peace Corps Prep builds on four core competencies:

  1. Sector-specific skills
  2. Foreign language proficiency
  3. Intercultural competence
  4. Professionalism and leadership

Starting with this page, you'll begin your journey towards completion of the PC Prep certificate. Here in Canvas, you will use "quizzes" to enter your relevant coursework, language skills and volunteer experience. This e-portfolio will help you keep track of your progress toward the certificate.  You will use the "PC Prep Program Tracker" module to log your progress on completing the certificate.

The PC Prep program integrates coursework with hands-on experience and professional development. Upon completion of the program, you will receive a certificate from the Peace Corps—and a competitive edge when applying for Peace Corps service. The PC Prep certificate rewards you for coursework and professional skills development that will make you a viable prospect in whatever career path you choose.
