How to Use this Canvas Page

This Canvas page is designed to bring together a community of students, faculty and staff who are interested in making the UT campus environment- whether a classroom, student organizational meeting, a department or office- more conducive for mental health. This group is also a way to connect virtually with folks across campus to ask questions, collaborate, as well as share ideas, best practices and resources.

Announcements- This page includes any announcements about the group and mental health initiatives on campus. If you would like to share an announcement to the page, please email klammy@austin.utexas.edu or mcolbert@austin.utexas.edu.   

Modules- Each month there will be a different theme related to mental health. In the module section, we will post information related to the theme including background information, discussion questions, and how to incorporate the theme into your life and work. Click here to check out this month's module and to browse past topics!

Discussions- This page is a place to post articles related to mental health and to post any questions for the committee to discuss.

Calendar- This is a place to view different mental health-related events that occur on campus and in the community. If you would like to submit a calendar event please email klammy@austin.utexas.edu information about the event.

Mandy Colbert, LMSW, MPH

Health Promotion Coordinator

Mandy (she/her/hers) coordinates several health promotion initiatives at UT Austin, including the Healthyhorns Peer Educator program, sleep promotion program, prescription drug misuse prevention program and online alcohol and sexual assault prevention education programs. Mandy received a Master of Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center and a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin, specializing in community and administrative leadership.

Kelsey Lammy, MSW

Mental Health Promotion Coordinator

Kelsey (she/her/hers) co-coordinates the Be That One Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention Program. She applies theory and evidence-informed practices in order to develop and implement population-level interactions which promote mental health for the student population on the University of Texas at Austin campus. She also coordinates various prevention and outreach for the Counseling and Mental Health Center and University Health Services. This includes providing workshops to departments, organizations and classes. She also advises the CMHC Student Organization and co-leads the Mental Health Promotion Peer Educators. As well as advising the CMHC Student Organization and co-leading the Mental Health Peer Educators. 

 

Michelle Emery, MA

Suicide Prevention Coordinator

Michelle (she/her/hers) serves as the Coordinator for the Be That One Suicide Prevention Program (BT1), which utilizes a public health approach to implement suicide prevention strategies across the UT-Austin campus by peer outreach, education, and support. Michelle brings experience in youth leadership development, social justice education, domestic violence advocacy, mental health system transformation. Her professional interests include restorative justice, community accountability and other community based anti-violence efforts, and promoting recovery-oriented organizational change among peer and clinical providers. On a personal level, Michelle enjoys cooking with her partner, trying new restaurants, being outdoors and reading her horoscope.
