Top Hat’s Privacy Policy has recently been updated this month, February 2025. These changes are meant to give Top Hat and Aktiv users more transparency and control over their Personal Information, while aligning with legal requirements and improving user experience.

  • Summary: We’ve added a plain-language summary at the beginning of the Privacy Policy Download Privacy Policy. This will give clear, simple explanations of how Top Hat collects and uses Personal Information.

  • Contact Information: The contact details for Top Hat’s Data Privacy Officer have been included for ease of contacting Top Hat about privacy inquiries, concerns, or complaints.

  • Terminology: We’ve added and updated definitions to make the policy clearer and more consistent. This includes adding a definition for Location Information, which Top Hat uses for its secure attendance feature.

  • Website usage: We’ve added how Top Hat may collect information about how the website is used.

  • Data Disclosure: We’ve clarified how data may be shared with an institution and specific users at the institution for educational and administrative purposes.
