Classroom Response Systems, also known as “audience response systems” or "clickers," have been used on the UT Austin campus for almost 20 years. Currently, iClicker [Classic] is the only system with a physical clicker. All of the other systems listed below are web-based and can be accessed on mobile devices.

iClicker Classic (remotes)

PRICING: Free for instructors | New remotes $50 from the COOP; used around $10

Runs on radio frequency; no WIFI needed
No recurring subscription. Once students purchase a remote, will work for as many courses/years
Students cannot easily capture instructor’s content such as quiz questions, reading comprehension questions, or other course materials

Free for classes less than 40 Students | Students $14/year OR Instructors $349/semester

• Easy Set Up and Use
• Can be used with participants who do not have a UT EID
• Integration with Canvas is tricky, but not impossible

• Very easy integration with Canvas

Top Hat

• Can be used in-class and online with Zoom
• App for mobile + browser access
