Create a simple Panopto Capture video in a Canvas course assignments folder

  1. Go to UT Canvas (https://canvas.utexas.edu/ Links to an external site.) and click "Enter Canvas"

  2. Enter your UT EID and Password as prompted and click "Sign In"
    You may be prompted to sign in with Multi-Factor Authentication using the Duo app. If you have logged in recently, you may be logged in automatically.

  3. Click on the course you are creating a video for. Make sure you have accepted the course invitation.

  4. Select Panopto Video from the left-hand menu.
    Note: This option will only appear in the menu if your instructor has created a Panopto Assignments folder for your course.

  5. Click the "Create" dropdown and select Panopto Capture to record video with the web app. Nothing to download!

  6. Panopto Capture opens in a new browser tab. You may need to allow access to your microphone and camera to proceed.
    Click the red button to begin recording. Record your content.
    Click the red button again to stop recording.

  7. Panopto will automatically upload your recording to the course assignments folder. Note: You may close the Panopto Capture tab while your video is processing.

  8. Once processing is complete, your video will appear in your Canvas course assignments folder. You may need to refresh the browser window.
    Note: You may need to navigate into the Assignments folder. The default Panopto folder contains the instructor's videos for the class, not student assignments.

  9. That's it! You created a video with Panopto Capture.
