Shavonne T. Coleman, MFA

Theatre for Dialogue Coordinator

Shavonne Coleman's Headshot

Shavonne (she/her/hers) is a teaching/performing artist, writer, and director from Detroit who has a passion and deep belief in the power of theatre as a catalyst for social change. She has an MFA from Eastern Michigan University for Applied Drama/Theatre for the Young where she had the amazing opportunity to travel to S. Korea to direct a Youth Theatre performance at the Zoom Theatre in Seoul. Ms. Coleman was honored to be awarded the 2018 Emerging Leader in TYA Fellowship and is excited to currently be a staff writer for TYA magazine. Recently, her Theatre for Dialogue course was part of the Faculty Innovation Center's 2019/20 cohort of Undergraduate Teaching Grant recipients. She is certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid and as the Theatre for Dialogue Coordinator at University of Texas at Austin she hopes to support students by aiding in the cultivation of inclusive and equitable learning and living spaces.

Voices Against Violence Prevention Coordinator

Sharon (she/her/hers) completed a Master of Science in Social Work degree at the University of Texas at Austin. She coordinates Voices Against Violence programming, which addresses interpersonal violence through primary prevention strategies and provides campus with tools to navigate consent and healthy relationships. Her additional professional interests include restorative justice and program evaluation. In her free time, Sharon enjoys yoga, aerial and circus classes, and crossword puzzles.

About Voices Against Violence

Voices Against Violence (VAV) is a program of the Longhorn Wellness Center and the Counseling and Mental Health Center. VAV offers comprehensive violence prevention and response programs. We address issues of interpersonal violence, such as sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking. VAV aims to provide the campus with tools to identify and interrupt interpersonal violence, support survivors, and build a campus that values and promotes healthy relationships and consent.
