Kaplan Resources for UT Austin Nursing:

  • NCLEX Prep:

Kaplan offers NCLEX review courses designed to help nursing graduates prepare for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). 

    • Test Preparation: Kaplan provides online courses, practice tests, and tutoring to help students master the material and develop effective test-taking strategies. 
    • Proprietary Decision Tree Method: Kaplan utilizes its Decision Tree method to teach students how to analyze questions and arrive at the correct answer. 
  • Graduate Program Preparation:

Kaplan offers test preparation for those seeking graduate degrees in nursing, including GRE, LSAT, and MCAT prep courses. 

    • Strive GPA: UT-Austin's Strive GPA program provides limited Kaplan test prep courses to currently enrolled students pursuing postgraduate studies. 
  • Austin Locations:

Kaplan has test preparation centers in Austin, Texas, as well as online options.

UT Austin School of Nursing Resources:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN):

The BSN program is a dynamic, hands-on program that prepares graduates for various clinical settings and foundational knowledge for further nursing education. 

    • Clinical Experience: The program offers a variety of hospital and community settings for clinical experiences. 
    • NCLEX Preparation: Graduates are prepared to take the NCLEX-RN. 
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN):

The MSN program provides advanced study in select areas of nursing science, professional foundations, related sciences, and systematic inquiry. 

  • Alternate Entry MSN:

For those with a non-nursing bachelor's degree and a desire for advanced study in nursing, the Alternate Entry MSN (AE-MSN) program is available. 

    • Requirements: Applicants must meet minimum requirements for admission, including a bachelor's degree, GPA of 3.0, 3 recommendations, and healthcare professional recommendation. 
    • AE Prerequisite Courses: Prerequisite courses are required for applicants, and these must be completed according to established policies. 
  • LEAP Center:

The LEAP (Learning, Engagement, Assessment and Pathways) Center offers a variety of support resources for nursing students. 

    • Peer Academic Coaching (PAC): PAC provides free individual or group tutoring in prerequisite science courses, J1 and J2 courses, and certain upper division courses led by current nursing students who have demonstrated excellence.
