Prototype Examples
Below are two different examples of prototypes done by past student teams. Take a look at both and notice how they differ on the spectrum of:
- Visual Detail
- Functional Depth
- Technical Reuse
House of Songs - (Wordpress Template)

- This team chose to build their project in Wordpress using a template that was purchased on ThemeForest. Since the client's site had a lot of information and a complicated web flow, they decided to quickly start prototyping in Balsamiq. The benefit of using Balsamiq was that they were able to create these in about a week. This was reviewed by the client and feedback that was given was vital to capturing the right design. The negative of Balsamiq was the lack of technical reuse but the team saw the speed and quickness to visual detail as a larger benefit. This team also later added hotspots to all users to click through the prototyped pages.
Asset Mapping - (Custom HTML site)

- Note that this team was tasked with building a project using custom code. Therefore technical reuse was important for them. They chose to start building out their prototype in their actual platform using HMTL and Bootstrap. While this took longer to create than the House of Songs example above, it reduced the amount of "throw away"
