Health, Safety, & Conduct

Any UT international program sending any number of students abroad should participate in a Health and Safety Pre-Departure Orientation. Texas Global requires that every student must either observe a session or watch a recorded session online (Global Risk & Safety events are listed here (Links to an external site.) You can schedule a meeting or request a presentation with Global Risk & Safety to discuss your trip and go over the request pre-departure forms. To schedule a session or request more information, please contact Global Risk & Safety at grs@austin.utexas.edu

Faculty Health & Safety Workshop

Faculty members leading students abroad are required to attend the Faculty Health & Safety Workshop annually or to complete the equivalent program online on the appropriate Texas Global website. Deans will be notified in the event of non-compliance. For more information, please contact Global Risk and Safety at grs@austin.utexas.edu or call (512) 471-0341. There will be a virtual workshop in the spring and fall for the 2022 - 2023 academic year.

Updates to Student Insurance Coverage

UT System is no longer contracting with International SOS (ISOS). The new emergency medical, travel, and security assistance provider is On Call International Links to an external site. (UT Group Portal ID: 100143CPPD21). You can access all the On Call resources by carefully reviewing the UT Plan ID Links to an external site. document.

The number has been updated on the website Links to an external site. and on the emergency card Links to an external site., overseas insurance primer Links to an external site. (under review), and student emergency action plan Links to an external site. (under review). Be sure that it is updated on any documents or webpages/Canvas sites where you may have it listed.

The On Call student Links to an external site. and employee Links to an external site. plan brochures will explain the insurance coverage while abroad. As a reminder, employees are covered under Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core. On Call also offers Tele-Counseling Services Links to an external site. for those with mental health concerns. Also notice that there is now limited COVID-19 quarantine coverage for both student and employees.
