Links to an external site. (UTeach) created a series of interactive videos where students can watch real high school teachers using course concepts in their classrooms.
A common complaint of online courses that embed video content into the assignments is that the students watch videos but do not always know which "take away" points of information are the most important. When you use videos, it is important not to let the videos speak for themselves. To focus the students on gaining knowledge of key concepts, Shelly and Kelli provide a worksheet, What_the_5E_looks_like_MOOC_new.doc Download What_the_5E_looks_like_MOOC_new.doc, which highlights big ideas from the lesson that will appear in the video. Students are also required to respond to video focus questions, which allow the instructors to gain formative feedback of student comprehension:
