#AcWriMo

Introduction

November is Academic Writing Month, or AcWriMo, and we are challenging all graduate and professional students at UT to participate for a chance at prizes, successful meetings with your advisor, and moving one step closer to graduation.

Rules

AcWriMo this year will follow the rules set at PhinisheD.org, and will focus on writing a minimum of 5 days a week.  This may be Monday through Friday for you, or Sunday through Thursday.  Whatever fits your schedule.  There are two ways to participate

  • Write 250 polished words/day, or;
  • Write/work for 4 tomatoes/day

Prizes

As we confirm the prizes from local businesses, we will update this page.  In the meantime, these are the categories:

  • Most average words/day for November, 2014* (1 winner)
  • Most average tomatoes/day for November, 2014 (1 winner)
  • Participation awards - complete writing goals 10+ days in November (3 winners, drawn randomly)

Getting Started

There are two documents to get you started, the Goal Sheet Download Goal Sheet, and your Progress Tracker Download Progress Tracker

To officially enter, make sure to submit your goal sheet at the beginning of the month, and submit your progress tracker by December 3!  A tip - after you have downloaded and completed your document, go to the submit link.  On the right side, you will see a link called "Submit Assignment".  Click on that, and you will have the opportunity to upload your document.

That's it!

We won't read your document, or grade it (unless you are like Lisa Simpson and need an A+++ on everything.  We can do that if you like we suppose.  A's for everyone who submits a Goal sheet!); instead, the document is there for your reference and use, and for us to enter you in the challenge.
