Exams
Most self-paced courses have two examinations. All courses have a final exam and many have a midterm exam. Exams are taken online using Honorlock, a remote proctoring platform. Honorlock allows exams to be taken from home or any location where internet access is available, ensuring the integrity of the exam by verifying student identity and recording the exam-taking session.
Students are required to take their midterm exam in the designated point in their course outline. To be eligible to take the final exam, students must have submitted all assignments and received a grade on any midterm exam. The final exam must be taken by the course completion date and students must pass the final exam to pass the course.
The following is a sample final exam overview:
Overview
You are now ready to prepare for taking the Final Exam.
- The Final Exam covers all lessons (1-10); however, there will be more questions from lessons that were not covered on the midterm (lessons 6-10).
- You will have 3 hours to complete the exam.
- You will not be allowed to refer to your textbook during the exam.
- The exam is structured as follows:
- 50 multiple choice questions worth 50 points (similar to the computer-graded assignments)
- 8 short essay questions worth 50 points (similar to the essays on the instructor-graded assignments)
Methods of Preparation
- Carefully review each lesson (especially those read longest ago). Reread any chapters you aren’t sure of, paying attention to details.
- Review the self-assessments, computer-, and instructor-graded assignments.
- Review the important terms and concepts at the end of each assigned chapter in your text.
- Have someone quiz you over selected material.
- As you review, keep in mind the great difference between being able to recall information in a closed-book testing situation and operating in the open-book situation you may have allowed yourself up to this point.
You must pass the Final Exam to pass the course.
